The Zoo, and Savannah's thoughts on the future

We went to the zoo today. We got a membership, so we didn't feel guilty about leaving after less than 3 hours, and seeing about an eighth of the zoo. It was great, the kids both loved it! We only went to the children's zoo and saw the primates. All the way there Savannah talked about how she wanted to see the elephants and the penguins, but when we got there she choose the monkeys. We were glad because those were much closer than the elephants, and I'm pretty sure they don't have penguins. Lincoln's top 3 favorite things were the goats at the petting zoo, the ducks, and yelling "roar" at any animal that was furry. We was hillarious and so chatty the whole time which is really unlike him. When he saw the ducks he kept saying, "Duck, duck, where'd it go? Oh there it is. Duck, Quack." etc. Then when we got to the petting zoo he learned to say goat, and every time he petted one he's say, "Oh soft, goat, soft." over and over. Suprisingly he was afraid of the gorilla statues that kids were climbing on.

Savannah's favorites were the flamingos, the gorilla statues, and the 50 cent ride we let her go on. Like one of those coin operated rides they have at the mall. She was suprisingly not that intersted in the animals, and was afraid of everything at the petting zoo except the rabbit. If you want to see a bunch of pictures from the zoo, you can go to our dropshots page which is in the "websites I love" list on the right.

Totally unrelated, but cute enough it needs to post, Savannah and I had a discussion about the future tonight. In the past, every time you would ask her what she wanted to be when she grows up she would say, "A missionary." So, this is the conversation we had tonight, after I told her that the missionaries had called.
Me- are you going to be a missionary when you grow up?
Van- No, I'm a kid.
Me- well when you grow up and get to be 21 you can go on a mission.
Van- Maybe I'll go on a mission when I'm 40, then I'll be a kid again and I'll be a kitty.

Savannah has been a kitty since last October. It started out as a most of the day behavior. She would meaw and rub against your legs. It has evolved to be what she does when she isn't quite sure what she should do. Like if she gets mad, she's a cat. If she's embarrased, she's a cat. If she's feeling particularly affectionate, she's a cat that licks your face and nuzzles its head all over your body. Yes, its very fun. I asked her yesterday when she thought she would stop being a cat, and she said maybe in March. Lets hope it doesn't last that long!

How funny. Marian likes to be something- not sure still if she's a puppy, a kitten or a pony. I'm glad its not too often though. Savannah sounds so fun!
