Christmas Eve

I have a gazillion pictures from Christmas Eve and Christmas, but I'm trying to narrow them down. On Christmas Eve we have a big party at my parents house. We open gifts from my parents and siblings, then my grandparents and my cousin and her kids come over. We eat a big dinner, then head to the church gym to break a pinata. After that we do a small nativity play then open gifts from my grandparents. They give everyone matching jammies. I mean each age group gets matching jammies. Anyhow, its a lot of fun! Here are a few pics. Oh, and for the nativity this year, Savannah was Mary and she got to ride on my 13 year old nephew, Tyson who was Joseph.

We saw Santa!

Last night my whole family went to see the lights and Christmas Village and to see Santa. It was freezing! When we first got there both kids were loving it running around looking at all the lights. Then Lincoln slipped on some ice. He screamed and threw a fit for a good twenty minutes. At this point we were about half way through the line for Santa and I was desperate! Finally I said to him, "Lincoln if you keep throwing a fit like this Santa will know that you have been naughty! You better start behaving to show Santa what a good boy you are." Shockingly, it worked! He didn't make another peep the rest of the time we were in line!

Then it was time to go see Santa. Both of them did very well! In fact, we had 4 babies and 3 kids with us, and they all did great! Savannah asked for, "A new Leapster because somebody stealed mine," which is what she's been asking for for months, Lincoln asked for gloves. I guess the elves may have some last minute shopping to do!

All in all, we had a great time! After we saw Santa we looked at more lights. Savannah was pretty grumpy all night, but today she is sick so I guess that explains it.

Bad decisions and bad counting

Ok, two quick kid funnies, one for each kid.

Last night I put the kids to bed in their room. This morning I woke up with both of them laying practically on top of me. The following is an early morning conversation between Savannah and myself.
Me: Little Miss, last night I put two little monkeys to bed in their own room, and this morning I woke up with two little monkeys on top of me. How did that happen?
Savannah: Did you put up both gates?
Me: No.
Savannah: Did you put up one gate?
Me: No.
Savannah: Did you close the door?
Me: (feeling a bit like an idiot at this point) No.
Savannah: Well, that was a bad decision.

Lincoln is finally starting to talk more, which leads to learning many other things. As we were driving today I heard this from the back seat:
"One... two... three... zebra... cow."

I don't think he quite gets the whole counting thing.

Its Begining to Look a Lot Like Christmas!

And not just on my blog either. I finally got around to updating the blog with the Christmas look today. It isn't right. The background is supposed to be smaller dots with trees on the sides. I can't remember how to make it the right size, and well, its finals week. I don't have time to mess with it.

I did have to do it though, because I've been waiting a week and a half to get a Christmas look up so I can post this. My house is all ready for Christmas! Not only is it all decorated, but I managed to get all the decorations up, gifts wrapped under the tree, and food cooked in time to have about 15 members of my family over for a pre-Christmas celebration the Sunday after Thanksgiving! Go me!!! We did have one small disaster though. I went to decorate my tree and all my ornaments are gone! The entire box is gone. I have no clue what happened since we have moved twice since our last Christmas tree. All my kids special ornaments, the ones they made, our first ornaments from when we got married... all gone. I cried. Luckily my mom had purchased a huge set of gorgeous ornaments to give to my brother, then he didn't end up needing them, so they are mine now. And I love the new look of my tree. Even if I do miss all the ornaments Savannah has made. Enough pouting, on to pictures!!!

My beautiful children

My good friend Kandis took some pictures of my kids for me. She did Lincoln's birthday portraits, and my kids Christmas pictures. I think they are amazing! Seriously the best pictures I've ever had of my kids. And they were horrible during the shoot. Kandis, you are a miracle worker! Anyhow, she sent me over 100 pictures, but here are a few of my favorites.

If you want to see a zillion pictures of my beautiful children I put them on dropshots, but they loaded half of them on Nov. 3 and half on Oct 18, so you need to look there. The link to dropshots is in the sidebar, and the password is savannah.

Super Stressful Well Child Visit

Lincoln had his 2 year check up today. It was stressful. Not necessarily bad, but one of those appointments where you walk out feeling like your head is spinning. First off, I was stressed out when we got there. Lincoln has hand, foot, and mouth, and hasn't really slept in a week, so I haven't either.

So we get there and check in. I've lost my "yellow card" which is required in order to be seen there, so when I was checking in at 12:19 for my 12:20 apt I told the girl, "sorry I lost my card, and I dont' have time to get a new one before his apt." SHe agreed with me and said they woudl call me back in a minute. At 12:50 I finally went up and asked how much longer it would be, and they said my apt was at 1:20. Why didn't they tell me that when I checked in! Its not like Lincoln was behaving. Seriously who waits an hour with a 2 year old just for the fun of it?

So we finally get back there, and they checked us in. Lincoln was 28.5 lbs and 33.5 inches tall. They said he was 45% for weight and 30% for height. They asked if that is where he normally is and I said no, and explained that he used to be huge, and has slowly been falling lower and lower since he was 6 months old. They said that they wanted to watch it at his next few apts since they don't have our medical records (for some reason they weren't transfered when we moved even though they should have been) Not a big deal though, I'm not worried about it.

Then they asked if I had any questions, and boy did I ever. I asked about having him allergy tested since he was first diagnosed with allergies at 4 months old and has had a constant runny nose since, and with his new diet and everything I just wanted to see exactly what is going on. The dr. agreed that he should be tested. Great! We should get a referal within 2 weeks.

Then I asked about the dent in his cheek. I'm not sure if I've posted about that or not, but he fell 2 months ago, and now has a good size dent in his cheek. The dr said give it a few months and if it doesn't go away on its own he will refer us to a plastic surgeon. Not great news, but not bad either.

Then he did the exam. Not only does Lincoln have hand, foot, and mouth (which the dr didn't seem at all concerned about) but he also has some rash all over his torso that wasn't there when I got him dressed this morning. I mean all over! They just said to watch it and call if he starts running a fever. Also he has a big scrape down his belly from falling, and its infected. Gave me a cream for that.

Then they started asking me all the general questions. They asked if he has issues with diareah or constipation, and I said yes, he's has diareah at least half of the time and has his entire life. I've always assumed it was an allergy thing. The dr looked perplexed, and asked a bunch more quesions, then said that between the diareah and the falling on the chart, he wants to run a few tests, specifically testing for Celiac's (sp?) I agreed, it didn't seem like a big deal KWIM.

So then he starts going over my paperwork, and one of them was an autism screen. He said that 2 of the questions I answered could possibly point to autism. One was that he is sensative to loud noises, and I didn't catch what the other one was. This is now the 2nd time in 2 months I've been told this. The first time I freaked out and started doing research, but between the research and the HUGE improvement he's made in the last few months, I'm not worried about it. So I just told the dr. that and that he is in Early Intervention and they watch for signs of autism.

Then came the testing. They did a blood test first. The girl doing it was horrible. She was digging around in his little arms forever! She tried both arms, then said she was going to get someone else. So the other girl came in, and she couldn't find a vein either. They did finally get it, but they spent almost 20 minutes digging around in his arms while I held him down screaming. It was horrible! Then came the really fun part. They said I need to get a stool sample. No big deal, right. Then they came out with 3 bags of stuff! I have to tape one of those bags to his butt, then when he poops I have to disctribute it to 3 little bottles and smear a bit of it onto this card thing, then get it to the dr office within an hour of when he pooped. Did I mention that the dr. office is 40 minutes from my house? Ya, like that's going to happen. Then 2 days later I have to do it again, then 2 days later I have to do it a 3rd time! Yea, I get to spend a week driving around poop! My favorite thing.

So ya, I came home feeling like I've been run over by a truck! I don't think we will be going back to the dr. for a while.

Lost Something? Call the Movie Guy.

On Tuesday I took the kids to see Madagascar 2 (by myself, pretty proud of that!) they were actually really good. Lincoln did wander the theater for a bit toward the end, but it was pretty empty, and he wasn't going anywhere near other people, so I let him. Anyhow, we were getting ready to leave, and I notice he is missing a shoe. I frantically searched all over by where we were sitting, and it wasn't there. I started going row by row where he had been walking (while trying to keep track of both kids who wanted to leave because the movie was over) and I cant' find it. I was still searching for it, when "the movie guy" came in to clean the theater. I explained the situation to him, getting a bit worried that maybe Lincoln had lost it in the lobby or outside, and it was really gone, but he grabbed a flashlight and found it in like a minute.

Flash forward to today. I took the kids to Panda Express for dinner. Lincoln insisted on bringing in a firetruck slightly larger than a matchbox car. He sat at the table and played with it most of the time we were there, but he did play on the bench next to us for a few minutes as well. Again, as we were leaving, I noticed that he didn't have his truck. Actually, I didn't notice. As I was trying to wrestle him into his carseat he was yelling "Truck, truck!" So I went back in to search for it. It wasn't anywhere that I could find, but I noticed a small gap at the edge of the bench that leads to a black hole under the bench. So I went back to the car and told the kids that it was gone forever, because I thought that Lincoln had dropped it into the bench. Savannah thought for a moment and said, "I know, just call the movie guy. He could use his flashlight to find it!"

Happy Birthday Lincoln!

His birthday was a week ago, but I haven't posted it yet because I don't like any of the pictures from his party. I know, I'm lame. Anyhow, he turned 2, and so far 2 has been the best, easiest age so far! His diet has done wonders! He is now very well behaved. Not only has his behavior improved, his speech progress is amazing! When we met with his speech therapist for the first time we set 6 month goals. In six months we wanted him to go from the 30 words he currently said to 50, and we wanted him using 2-3 word phrases. When she came back 2 weeks later we were there. His new goal after that was 3-5 word phrases, and using pronouns, specifically me, mine, I, and you. Well, that was a week ago, and we are there! Well, he doesn't say you, but the rest of them he does! This kid has amazed me with his progress in such a short time! He rarely even asks for treats anymore, and doesn't seem to really mind when everyone else is having something he can't have. It just amazes me to talk to him now, we can actually have a conversation! ANd he's gotten a bit bossy. I dont' know where he could have possibly gotten that, must be from his big sister, and she must have gotten it from some stranger, couldn't be me. Anyhow, the first four word sentance he ever said was when we were shopping and Savannah grabbed something off the shelf. He pointed to her and said in his most stern voice, "Sister, put it back!"

His birthday was great! He had a firetruck party. I got him the cutest shirt at Gymboree that had a firetruck on it and said, "Birthday Boy." Unfortunately you can't see it in any of his pictures. If I ever get a working camera again, I'm putting the shirt back on him and staging pictures. I made a firetruck cake, and it fell over too. I didn't stress out about it this time though, because I threw the cake together in less than an hour just before leaving for his party. We had to have the party at my mom's house because it was pouring rain and there just isn't room for 25 people at my house. Anyhow, the drive to her house killed the cake. I really needed someone to hold it in the car, but I didn't trust Savannah or Lincoln with that task. So, without further ado, here are a few of the pictures from his party. These are the best that I have.

And since I did the same with Savannah's birthday, here is a quick timeline of the last 2 years of Lincoln.

Aww, thanks Kelli!

Step 1. If you want to, you can put up this picture to make it look like you're a totally cool special blogger person.

2. Stick the name of the person who tagged you here: Kelliand hyperlink it so people can go see who tagged you.

2. Name Three Blogs you love: Well, I would have said Kelli and Rebecca, but since Kelli tagged me and Rebecca tagged her I'll leave them alone.

Sharon said something super sweet about me on her blog this week (prompting my last post) but really the opposite is true. I've looked up to Sharon as long as I've known her because she is just one of those super women who are totally on top of everything! She can watch all 4 of her kids and someone else's while fixing and amazing dinner and preparing a church lesson all at the same time. At least she makes it look that way! Plus, her blog is super cute, and so are her kids.

Kandis JoMy friend Kandis is an amazing photographer. Plus, she has been one of my great friends since sixth grade! How many of you can say you've been putting up with me that long? And she has some super cute pics she took of my kids on there. Kandis you are a lifesaver, and I love the pics! I'm going to post them on here too, but I'm waiting to get the CD first.

Jessica has one major problem with her blog. She doesn't post nearly enough. But, when she does they are hillarious! About half of them or more are by her hubby, and he's pretty funny too. She's been putting up with me even longer than Kandis. I'm not sure exactly how long, but my earliest memory of her is 4th grade. Plus, she cut my hair so cute when we first moved back to Utah. I really should go see her again so I can stop looking like Shaggy, but I'd have to find time for that.

Not such a great mom

I just had to post this since I read on two separate blogs tonight what a great mom I am. So, tonight my sister and my nieces were dancing at this fake academy awards thing at the University here. I for some reason thought that his would be a great time to take my kids to see them dance. We are driving over there and Savannah starts crying, "We're hungry, we didn't have dinner yet!" My nephew is in the car too, and he says he hasn't eaten yet either, so I went through the only drive-thru close, Burger King for the third time of the day. (more on that later) We then snuck our burgers and chicken nuggets into the no food allowed auditorium. So we walk in, and my family has chosen to sit right in the middle of the row, great seats. By my family I mean my mom and dad, my single-mom sister and her 3 boys, my other sister's 3 boys that my parents are watching, my mom's friend's daughter, and us. By the way, this includes four babies counting Lincoln. So we are waiting for the thing to start, and Lincoln starts running down the rows. Its pretty empty, so as I'm getting up to retrieve him my mom says to just wait and see if he comes back. Well, he didn't. He was literally running up and down several rows, climbing over seats, etc. I just didn't have the energy to deal with that tonight (more on that later too) So I'm watching him, but not moving until he opens the auditorium door and runs out. I'm in like 30 seats from the door! So I got up and went squeezing by the other people (luckily most of whom were family). When I finally caught up to him some random college student had gotten up and chased him down for me. She was like, "Sorry I saw him run out the door and thought someone needed to get him." Ya, I was that mom tonight. And I don't even really care. I've had like 5 hours of sleep in the last 60 hours.

So, you want to know why? Lincoln is weaning. Yes he is two. Yes, I know I'm insane! I originally wanted to let him self wean. Then when he was about 18 months old I decided I was done, but I was waiting for a time when he was not sick or not going through a huge transition, or not getting used to a new diet. He was actually down to only nursing when he first woke up in the morning until we moved here, and Jesse left, and we were suddenly around other kids 24/7 and he decided he needed to get up 4-5 times a night to nurse. Yes, you read that right, my 24 month old gets up 4-5 times a night! So, I finally decided Wednesday night that I was D.O.N.E! No more. So he got up at midnight and cried for about an hour. I was an idiot and stayed up until 2:30 working on homework, talking to Jesse, cleaning, etc. So I went to bed at 2:30, and he woke up again at 3. Then he proceeded to scream for 3 hours straight! Three hours people! Finally at 6 I got him to eat a poptart (which he shouldn't have on his diet) and a sippy cup of soy milk and turned him on a movie and zonked out. I'm not sure if he went to sleep or not, but an hour later he was screaming again and we were all up for the day. Last night was a bit better. He never cried for more than 45 minutes at a time, but he was up 4 times crying between 1:30 when I went to bed an 8 when we all got up.

And to make it even better, Savannah decided to start running a 103 fever in the middle of the night! By some miracle, my kids have been pretty healthy lately, but Savannah has been complaining of a sore throat for a few days, so after the middle of the night fever I decided to take her in for a strep culture today. According to the base website they do walk in cultures from 10-3 ever day. So we were rushing around getting ready this morning, and in a bribe to get her dressed and out the door I told Savannah she could get breakfast from Burger King. So we did that on the way there. Unfortunately there was a wreck on the freeway, and it took us 85 minute to get to base. Usually it takes 35-40 minutes, but for some strange reason our request to see a civilian provider has been denied twice so we have to drive out there when they are sick. Anyhow, so we arrive there and are told that they stopped doing walk in cultures two years ago, but for some reason they haven't updated their website yet. Luckily, our dr is awesome and agreed to see her on his lunch break! So he checked her out, and she is fine. Her throat wasn't even a bit red, and there is absolutely nothing else wrong with her, and she hasn't had even the slightest fever since waking up this morning. So I decided that she was going to school. I just didn't have the energy to deal with both of them and everything else I had to do today. But in order to get her to school on time I was going to have to go through the only drive-thru on base... Yeah! Burger King again! Then I got to drop her off at school, and had just enough time to go grocery shopping (I've been meaning to make it there since Halloween and it hasn't happened yet) before picking my niece up from school and driving her to her dress rehearsal. Then it was time to pick Savannah up from school.

So, after all that, I finally finished my homework that was due at midnight at 11:58 and instead of going to bed, I decided that I would blog. Must be the sleep deprivation messing with my decision making skills. Sorry that got so long. Oops! If you wouldn't mind, please send Lincoln some "Please sleep tonight!" thoughts and vibes!

Savannah funnies

Just 2 quick ones since I'm supposed to be making cakes.

First, this was like a week or two ago. Savannah and I were talking about what she is going to be when she grows up. (still a skateboarder LOL)
Me: Will you me a mommy too?
Savannah: Yes, I'm going to have 10 kids!
Me: Wow, that's a lot of kids. Do you know what I'll be when you are a mommy? I'll be your kid's grandma.
Savannah: No, you can be the babysitter.

Bad news kid... If you have 10 kids there is no way I'll be the babysitter!!!

Second, today. She's been obsessed with death lately. I think its Halloween.
Savannah: Mom, why do you go live with Heavenly Father when we die?
Me: Because we love him, and we lived him before we came to Earth, so when we die we go back to live with him, and we will be so happy!
Savannah: I'd rather go live with Nana.

Too Much for One Day!

Ugg, today was just too much for me. It was a great day, but a little too full. First off, yesterday I spent about 10 hours making Savannah a Cinderella costume. Why you may ask did I make one of the most common Halloween costumes out there? I don't know, maybe I'm crazy. Anyhow, I found some gorgeous glittery satin, and the sheer fabric has little rhinestones in it. Gorgeous fabric, and I was thrilled even though I spent $30 on fabric after the 50% off, and that didn't include thread, zipper, etc. Anyhow, so I started the day out exausted.

We woke up around 8, and immedietly I got to finishing the costume. You see, I couldn't hem the bottom last night because by the time I got to that part she had been asleep for hours. So I go to hem, and its a good 6-8 inches too long. I thought that was great because the whole thing is a bit big because stupid Butterick doesn't make a size 6 pattern. They make a 4/5 which would be way too small or a 7 which is too big. I thought that I woudl leave the extra fabric and do a big hem so she can wear it again in a year or two. Well after about an hour of messing with it and not getting it to work, I got frusterated and cut it off. Bad choice. I was tired, frustrated, and in a hurry, and I did a horrible job! Like I'm talking some parts are a good 4-5 inches shorter than other parts! Oh well, I finally finished the stupid costume at 10:15, and it was too late to go to my 10 am pilates class. I hurried and got the kids ready and headed to the gym to work out on my own. It was the gym nursery's Halloween party today, so the kids were supposed to wear their costumes, but Lincoln refused to put his on. SO we went there, and the kids had a great time. Upon leaving I realized that I was not thinking about lunch when I went to the gym so late, and it was time to take Savannah to school, so we went through the drive through at Wendy's. Now most days I drop Savannah off at my mom's house and my sister takes her to school since she works there, but the trip to Wendy's made us too late for that, so I had to take her myself. Oh, it was Savannah's Halloween party at school today too, because for some reason our school district doesn't have school on Friday.

So I drove the 25 minutes to Savannah's school, dropped her off, and rushed home, arriving 10 minutes before Lincoln's speech therapist. That went great! I really need to do a post about that, maybe tomorrow. So after his speech I decided that since I had two hours before I needed to pick Savannah up, and Lincoln wanted to be outside we would go for a walk/hike. There is a beautiful trail just three blocks from my house, and I've never taken him up there. So we got Starsky and walked up to it. Lincoln was having a ball! He ran around, climbed rocks, jumped off things. It was little boy heaven, until he fell in a cactus. Not like a regular cactus either, it was the kind where the pokers look like little hairs but sting really bad! So I carried him home screaming and put him in the bath. After his bath we spent about an hour picking the pokers out with tweezers and finished just in time to go get Savannah from my mom's.

We got there, and let me say; I love my mom, and I love going to her house, but its the black hole! Its impossible to go there without spending a few hours. I managed to get in and out in about an hour and a half today, only because I had to get home to go to my ward's super Saturday. Now, I know what you are thinking... It isn't Saturday, its Wednesday. Yes, you are correct. The Super Saturday was scheduled for two weekends ago, but there was a funeral at the church that day, so they moved it to today. I had signed up for two crafts, and they were having a dinner, and quilting. I would have stayed much longer, but we could only be there an hour. I managed to get both my crafts done, but I didn't eat. I did however, forget to tell the nursery people about Lincoln's diet, so he had all sorts of stuff he wasn't supposed to have. Oop!

So we left there just in time to be twenty minutes late to Savannah's dance and music companies Halloween party at the skating rink. It was so much fun! My sister and two of my nieces dance there as well, and it was for families, so almost my whole family was there. The kids skated their little hearts out for two hours, and when Lincoln layed down on the skating rink and acted like he was going to bed I finally decided it was time that we HAD to go. I had to drop off my nephew in Riverdale and my niece in Ogden, and we finally made it home around 10 PM, at which time I started my homework. I had two quizes tonight that I hadn't even done the reading for!

So ya, great day, but a bit too much. Tomorrow should be only slightly calmer. But, the good news is that I FINALLY got a new camera, so I have a few pictures!!! I know you are almost as excited as I am, I'm sure. Here are a few, but there are many more on dropshots, link in my favorite sites section.
