Moving... again

So the time has come to go back to San Diego. We are moving the third week of March. We decided to give the base housing in San Diego a try this time, and I think it will be good. We'll be in Mission Valley, close to everything and not too far from our old place. Only like 4 exits away, and only like 3 from base. And super close to my favorite San Diego mall, so I guess that's good.

I hate moving. I should be really good at it. In the 5.5 years we've been married we've lived in 6 houses (this will be #7) in 3 different states. I know I brought this on myself when I decided, by my own choice, to move back to Utah while Jesse was gone, but I REALLY hate moving. I hate packing stuff up. I hate the purge (and seriously how is there possibly that much stuff to purge every single time?). I hate the cleaning. I hate the unpacking and trying to make everything work and look right and finding places for everything. I hate living somewhere that doesn't feel like home for a few months.

And I hate to say this, but I'm not ready to leave Utah. Sure, I love San Diego. Sure, I'm excited to live with my husband again after almost 9 months apart. Sure, our time in Utah was not quite what we were expecting. I LOVE it here! I love Utah! I love the snow. I love being by our families. I love Savannah's school and her dance and her music class. I love being able to run over to my mom's house or my sister's house anytime I want. I love looking out my window and seeing the mountains. I love driving around town and showing my kids the schools I went to and places I went when I was a kid. Life is going to seem lonely and boring after the craziness of the last 8 months.

All whining aside though... we really are purging. If anyone needs a living room set, or a bed, or a gazillion toys, or baby gear give me a call. It all has to be out of my house in less than 3 weeks!

Valentine's Day

OK, so I don't want to be a whiner, but I'm going to whine for a second here. Valentine's Day came and went. Yet another Valentine's Day spent without Jesse. Honestly, I'm not really sure if we've ever spent V day together. If we have, I don't remember it. Our first he was in boot camp. The next year is a blur. The 3rd and 4th he had duty (which I distinctly remember because in 2006 we went out 2 days early to celebrate because of the duty and I complained that it was the second year in a row that he had duty on V day.) Last year he was in AZ or somewhere on a work trip, and this year he was in San Diego and I'm in Utah. Oh, and we still have no clue when we are moving because we still can't decide if we are going to buy (in which case it will probably be a few more months), rent (my last choice), or move on base (if we wait for our first choice housing it will only be 3-4 more months!). Ya, not looking great on that front.

Valentine's Day was a joy though. NOT! Savannah was running a fever on Friday. I woke up Saturday to her puking on my bed, followed by puke on the bathroom floor. The day got even better when after the sixth pair of soiled panties I convinced her to just wear a pull up the rest of the day. Seriously, our holidays are cursed! Christmas we had the sinus infection/ear infection thing, New Years was full of puke, Civil Rights Day was fevers, and now this. I hear by ban all further holidays!

We did have a great time celebrating V day today though. It was our bi-monthly family dinner at my mom's today, and we called it a Valentine's party. The food was great, and I was in charge of desert and made Pioneer Woman's chocolate sheet cake. Then my mom brought out presents. She gave the kids chocolates and these cool animal balloon/ball things, and I got the mother load... a gorgeous purse that I've been eyeing for months! Its zebra print with hot pink trim. I really needed a purse too, since my current one has a whole in it. I'll have to take a picture of it sometime. Oh, and Jesse got me a great present too, but I can't use it until I get to CA. He got me a gift certificate for a massage, facial, and haircut. He's notorious for not-so-great gifts, so I was pleasantly surprised!

I did manage to get a few crappy pictures of the kids yesterday. I made them get dressed at 5 PM just so I could take a picture of them in their Valentine outfits, so even though the pictures aren't great, I'm posting them anyway because they took a lot of effort!

Bank Accounting and Giraffe Birth

Tonight the ride home with Savannah was full of interesting conversation. First she informed me that we were stopping at McDonalds for a root beer. I told her that we couldn't do that because I didn't have any money with me. Then she said that I should just get some from Daddy's bank accounting. Daddy's bank accounting will have money because he has a job. Savannah's job is taking care of Starsky, and Lincoln's job is brushing Savannah's hair and picking up her clothes. Seriously... what dream world does she live in?

The conversation them turned to giraffes. She asked why they have long necks and I said that it was because they were built that way. She said, "Mom, giraffes aren't built. First Heavenly Father takes a seed. Then he makes a big fat mama belly. That's the baby giraffe. Then the mama giraffe goes to the doctor. Then the doctor opens up the big fat belly, and the baby says (in a super high squeaky voice) 'I don't want to come out, I don't want to come out' then blop, blop, blop the baby giraffe comes out. Then the mama giraffe has to go to the doctor, but the baby giraffe isn't allowed to go, so the daddy giraffe watches him."

Glad I've been informed.
