Haircuts

This is one picture that just could not be sufficiently told without pictures, so thank you to my friend, Addie, for letting me borrow her camera.

Last week Jesse decided to trim Lincoln's mullet a bit. He didn't want to, but my not so subtle hints that I wanted to get his hair cut short again motivated him to at least trim it. I think it looks like a girl cut, especially in the back. He may be getting it cut anyway.

Savannah has been asking ever since to let me cut her hair. Now, for those who weren't around or don't remember, Savannah was bald until she was about three. Her hair was finally getting to be really long and beautiful. It was just about to her waist, curly, and just beautiful. Savannah was very proud of her hair and loved to tell everyone that she had long, long hair like a princess. Well, once Savannah saw Daddy cutting Lincoln's hair she started asking for a haircut. I thought we had convinced her that her long beautiful hair is best. Then I came home yesterday and found this in my bathroom.

After closer inspection, there is no doubt who this hair belongs to...

I cried... more than once.

She was sleeping when I found it, so I still wasn't exactly sure how bad the damage was. But, when she woke up this morning this is what I found.

I tried to fix it as well as i could. She managed somehow to chop all the front really short, leave the top long, and cut the bottom all about shoulder length. The left side is definately the worst part, that whole side is cut about ear length. I would have gone for a bob except that her hair is curly. So I moved her part to the opposite side to try to hide the now nearly bald half of her head and cut all over her beautiful curly locks shoulder length.

She will have to wear the front back in a clip until it evens about a bit, and our days of fancy hairdos are done for the time being. There isn't much to do when almost all the hair in front is gone. Lets just hope that it grows fast, she starts Kindergarten in a month!

I have some pictures!

So its been, what about a month now that I haven't had a camera? I'm going crazy! I usually take pictures about every day. Seriously. So, when my family came last month I begged them all to take lots of pictures, and I've been begging them since to please send them to me. Sending pictures is not a strong suit of anyone in my family except me. That's probably why I'm usually the one in charge of taking lots of pictures and making sure that everyone gets copies of everything. Anyhow, my younger sister, Chalee, finally posted some on Facebook today, so here are a few of those. Just the ones that have my family in them. Most of my favorite pictures didn't have us in them, but I won't bore you with any of those.

Almost everyone in front of the temple. Just in case you care from left to right: Jesse, Savannah, Lincoln, Me, Jim, Cherilyn, Cye, Tyson, Tommy, Christon, Nana (My mom) Bret, Aryanna, Grandpa (My dad), Clif, Parker, Lizzy, Chalee, Jared, Caytie, Noah, Josh, and Bridger.

The kids having some fun on the temple grounds. (Aryanna, Parker, Tommy, Savannah, and Cye)
Aryanna and Savannah, I just love this one. These two are inseparable. Savannah has really missed Aryanna since we moved.

Lincoln watching the Shamu show.

Savannah and Aryanna walking through La Jolla, another one that I just LOVE!

We went to Old Town for my Dad's birthday, and my mom had a balloon guy make all the kids whatever they wanted.

Lincoln loved his hat!

The birthday boy had the best hat!

More Lincoln

Boy, I swear I do have 2 kids even though I only seem to blog about 1 lately. I promise that will change some day. Lincoln is so naughty and full of energy that it is easy for me to be frustrated by him much of the time. He is FINALLY getting to the stage where he is talking more and does funny things, and that makes it so much easier.

Last weekend Jesse actually watched the kids most of the day on Sunday while I was with a friend of mine. When I came home I met them at the park. Lincoln was walking on a wall thing, and Jesse walked over and got him down. Lincoln turned around and said, in his most stern voice, "Daddy, I spank your butt!" Hopefully Lincoln didn't hear that too much while I was gone.

Last night after I put the kids to bed I ran to the grocery store. When I came home Jesse told me that a few minutes after I left Lincoln came downstairs pointing to his nose, whining, and saying "help." Jesse tried to pull out whatever was in there with his fingers, and finally after resorting to tweezers pulled a whole Cheerio out of Lincoln's nose. Lets just hope that once is all it takes for Lincoln to learn not to stick things up his nose.

Cute Pony Mamoths

I was gathering the children to run an errand this afternoon, and Lincoln was playing with Savannah's My Little Ponies. I asked him if he wanted to bring them with us, and he turned to me and said, "Mom, they mammoths!" Well excuse me. I figured that he was probably trying to make the ponies more manly. He seems to have picked up on gender cues very well despite my efforts to assure both of my children that there are no such things as "girl things" and "boy things."

So Lincoln, the mammoths and I went to find Savannah. Savannah told Lincoln that those were HER ponies, to which Lincoln responded, "They CUTE!"

So much for being manly.

He Grew!

I'm so excited! I thought that Lincoln was looking a little bigger lately, and today it was confirmed. He weighed in at 33 lbs at the doctor today! For reference he was 24 lbs at 6 months old, 26 lbs at a year old, 28 lbs at 2 years old, and 29 lbs at 2.5 years old- just three months ago. He's gained as much weight in the past 3 months that he gained in the previous 18 months!

I know that really isn't a big deal, but it has always kind of bothered me that he hadn't really grown much since he was 6 months old. In other news, he has finally outgrown 18 month clothing, which has fit him since he was 3 months old! In fact, even his 24 m and 2T stuff is starting to look a bit small.

Independence Day San Diego Style

I was a little bit nervous about our first holiday in this new house. Its always a bit difficult trying to decide how to spend holidays without family and with new friends. Luckily we have become great friends with a family from our ward, The Yates'. They invited us to go to the beach on Naval Station Coronado with some other families from our ward. They were all going first thing in the morning, but we decided that with our wild kids (*cough* Lincoln) and Jesse's hurt back it would be better if we met them later in the day. So after lunch we headed out to the beach. It was fantastic! We spent a gorgeous day at the beach. Our kids got to play with tons of other kids from the ward, and Jesse and I got to socialize with the adults. We grilled on the beach for dinner, and as it got colder in the evening everyone put on jackets and we had a bonfire on the beach and roasted smores. The best part was the fireworks though. We could see the fireworks at Sea World, San Diego Big Bay (4 synchronized sets), Hotel Del Coronado, and one more set that we weren't quite sure where it was coming from. There really is nothing like sitting around a fire on the beach with six or seven members of America's Armed Forces and watching seven sets of fireworks on the fourth of July.

I have to admit I did miss all the "Moo"'s and "Baa"'s that my family does during the fireworks though.

Hopefully Addie will be sending me pictures so I can put something interesting on here again.

Family!

I feel like its almost pointless to blog about stuff without pictures. I still haven't found my camera, but eventually someone from my family will send me pictures, hopefully.

My family came to visit last week. 29 people counting us! We all stayed at a bunch of condos in Pacific Beach. Well Jesse didn't, and he took Lincoln home with him most nights. We had so much fun, but vacationing with that many people can be crazy to say the least. We had six little boys two and under! We had a few beach days, went to Sea World, visited Old Town, went to Belmont Park, cought a concert in the park in La Jolla, saw the seals and the temple, some people went to the Wild Animal Park and a Padres game, ate tons of good food, played games and tons more. Oh and we had 2 birthday boys on the trip! My dad and my nephew, Cye, both had birthdays during the five days they were here. The kids had a great time playing with their cousins, we've missed everyone and it seems like we've been gone way longer than three months!

In other news, the day they all left my computer crashed and we lost everything that was on it. I'm horrible about backing up stuff. Luckily most of my pictures are online, but every single document on my computer is gone. Jesse is going to ask a friend who is good at computer stuff to try to do a data recovery on it, but I'm not counting on getting anything back.
