Ear tubes, wish us luck!

Last week Lincoln saw the ENT. He's had 9 ear infections in the last year, and he's allergic to penacillin drugs and apparently has already built a resistance to Azithromycin. So the dr said that one of his ears has fluid in it, and the other one looks fine. Lincoln only co-operated for about 2 minutes of the hearing test, and the audiologist said that based on what they got she would have scored him 25%, but that the problem could have been him being stuborn, and not his actual hearing. I was in the room, and from what I saw I think it is his hearing because he responded perfectly to some frequencies and not at all to others. Anyhow, the dr gave me the option to try and hurry and get tubes before we move, or to get a referral to an ENT to Utah and re-evaluate him in 3 months there. Since the Dr said that he didn't think he did need the tubes I agreed to wait. As soon as I left the office I felt like I'd made the wrong decision. My mom and Jesse both agreed that they thought he needed them now.

So, it was a typical experience dealing with the Naval hospital. I called Wednesday morning and got an answering machine, so I left a message. They didn't call back. I called Thursday morning and spoke with someone who transfered me to the patient representative where I got an answering machine, left a message, no call back. I called Friday and reached the patient representative who told me that I needed to speak with the surgery scheduler who had apparently left for the day at 11 am. So today I finally spoke with the surgery scheduler. After 40 minutes on hold, I was told that there was no way they could get him in before we move and that he couldn't schedule a surgery anyway based on the notes from the dr. He said that he needed to speak to the dr who saw Lincoln on Tuesday, and they would call me back. Well, they just called, and his surgery is tomorrow! We have to go in for pre-op in 2 hours! Talk about quick! I'm guessing that they are putting him in where someone cancelled.

So, hopefully my kid will behave at the pre-op today, and hopefully I can get someone to watch Savannah tomorow. And hopefully Lincoln will do well with the surgery. I'm not too worried about it since all my nieces and nephews have had it done with no problems, but ya. Nothing like finding out your kid is having surgery tomorrow when you are already super stressed out.

I'll come down and pick up Savannah if you want. What time do you need to leave?
