Lincoln

So, we've had a lot going on with Lincoln lately. When we moved to Utah I started noticing that his cousin, Bridger, who is three months younger than Lincoln talked a lot more than he does. I wasn't too concerned until Tanner, who is 9 months younger was also talking more than Linc. I brought it up with his doctor, and his doctor suggested that I have him evaluated by the Early Intervention program. Savannah was also evaluated by EI when she was about two, and she didn't qualify for their services even though she ended up needing speech therapy later. So, I expected about the same for Lincoln.

Well, he was evaluated last week, and I was very suprised by the results. He is very behind in language, and a but behind in social/emotional development and self help skills. So he will now be getting in home therapy.

My mom has been trying to get me to talk Lincoln to her homeopathic type nutritionalst for months. After getting his results from his evaluation she made him an appt. Well, those results weren't great either. They found allergies both ingested and inhaled, bacteria in his body somewhere, lack of healthy bacteria, an intestinal problem that is leading to a liver problem, which is probably why he get sick so often, and a bunch of other problems. So, now he is on a special diet. No dairy (which I should have been doing all along since I know he is allergic to milk, but I was giving him cheese and yogurt), no sugar at all, no peanuts, no potoatoes, and no white rice. Ya, not fun to try and stick to that for an almost two-year-old! Plus he takes three supliments a day; one is DHA, one is probiotics, and one is for his immune system. Hopefully following this he will get sick less, and his bahavior will start to improve.

So ya, a stressful week with Lincoln.

I'm so glad your looking at alternative/wholistic help! Does your mom know about Nixia Red from Young Living? You're in the heart of Nixia Red country since Young Living is out of Utah, I think in the Spanish Fork or Lehi area.

Good for you! And I second Kelli. If I were better, I would work on a sugar free diet. I like my food too much. Its a whole lifestyle change and I'm not ready for it yet. Someday....

You are an awesome mom! Keep it up!

I'm surprised that they don't allow him to eat white rice. I was told that the reason why rice cereal is so popular for babies is because there is virtually no one in the world with a white rice allergy. I know it's not good for you and am wondering if that's the reason why it was cut out along with sugar. Today I was feeling not that great and I told Matt that I think it's because I've had too much sugar lately. So I said I wasn't going to eat any treats or sweets today, and here I am at the end of the day without any. I'm proud of myself. It's seems like a big looming hurdle, but it feels awesome when you get over it. I know you will!

Love,
Dolly

Ya, he can't have the white rice and potatoes because they turn to sugar in your body.

I hope that this will help Lincoln, about the speach, well Fabrizio is pretty slow too, and everyone keeps telling me that it's because he is a BOY!
It's hard not to compare when I have a child just 8 min. younger than him!!
Good luck!!

I wouldn't worry too much about the speech and don't compare him to his cousins. I've had to do that with Drew. Drew when He was evaluated was 9 months behind. But still just had me work with him at home. He has made any huge improvements. But you know he is interested in other things. Plus his hearing is fine. i'm dealing better with it, but I know it's frustrating. I do go for a second evaluation soon. I'm not sure when. You know Drew is really crabby lately too. I think he is getting to much sugar too.
