Independence Day San Diego Style

I was a little bit nervous about our first holiday in this new house. Its always a bit difficult trying to decide how to spend holidays without family and with new friends. Luckily we have become great friends with a family from our ward, The Yates'. They invited us to go to the beach on Naval Station Coronado with some other families from our ward. They were all going first thing in the morning, but we decided that with our wild kids (*cough* Lincoln) and Jesse's hurt back it would be better if we met them later in the day. So after lunch we headed out to the beach. It was fantastic! We spent a gorgeous day at the beach. Our kids got to play with tons of other kids from the ward, and Jesse and I got to socialize with the adults. We grilled on the beach for dinner, and as it got colder in the evening everyone put on jackets and we had a bonfire on the beach and roasted smores. The best part was the fireworks though. We could see the fireworks at Sea World, San Diego Big Bay (4 synchronized sets), Hotel Del Coronado, and one more set that we weren't quite sure where it was coming from. There really is nothing like sitting around a fire on the beach with six or seven members of America's Armed Forces and watching seven sets of fireworks on the fourth of July.

I have to admit I did miss all the "Moo"'s and "Baa"'s that my family does during the fireworks though.

Hopefully Addie will be sending me pictures so I can put something interesting on here again.
