30 Hairdos: Day 26 "Hippie Headband"

I found this hairdo on a blog, but I can't remember where.  I liked it on the little girl there, but I do not like it on Savannah.  I actually took it out and put her hair in a plain ponytail for school!  But I'm posting it anyway because I think it can be super cute on other girls, just not right for Savannah.  (And you can tell by the picture that she doesn't like it either)

30 Hairdos: Day 25- "Triple Twist-back Ponytail"

Today we decided to try the "Triple Twist-back Ponytail" seen here.  I love it!  This seriously took less than 2 minutes.  The hardest part was getting a smooth ponytail to start with.  (I'm horrible at getting her hair into a ponytail, it seems so simple)  This will definitely be added to our regular rotation!

30 hairdos: Day 24 "One-Sided Y Braid"

Some hairdos are a matter of trial and error.  This one completely evolved as I was going along.  I started by doing a one side French braid.  Its very similar to a waterfall braid, where you only pull hair from the top, not from below.  But this time go ahead and add the hair you pick up into the braid instead of pulling it through.
I've done this braid many times, but for some reason I just didn't like it this day.  Partly because I went too low while I was doing it, and partly because she was having a crazy hair day and from the front, the non-braided side looked like a hot mess.  So I decided to try doing the same thing on the other side and joining them in the middle.  I didn't take a picture at that point, because it looked even worse.  What I ended up doing is kind of a Y (backwards, but if you started at the other side of the head it would be a Y).  I did a short one sided French braid on the other side of her head, and incorporated it into the first braid, which I continued all the way across.  I kind of like the way it turned out.

30 Hairdos: Day 23 "Diagonal French Braid"

I have a thing for sideways braids.  This hairdo is really similar to others that I have done, but its another favorite.  Just do a regular old French braid, but instead of going from the front to back, go side to side (or diagonal)

30 Hairdos: Day 22 "Messy Buns"

There have been a few times in the past few weeks that I've done a hairdo and forgotten to take pictures.  This was one of those.  Messy pigtails is kind of Savannah's "signature do."  We started doing these when she was 3, and she wears them at least once a week.  One of my good friend in San Diego used to call it her "Fraggle Rock" hair.  So we did a redo today.  Messy buns are best done when the hair is wet, but part way dry.  Savannah's hair was still really wet when we did these this morning, so they don't look quite as good as usual.

Start by parting the hair down the middle. Pull one side into a pigtail, but only pull the hair halfway through making a loop.
If your daughter's hair is as long as Savannah's you'll need to do another loop the other way.

Then move the hair around, pull a piece or two from the bottom up to the top and vice versa and pin them in place to make it look more messy.

Do the other side, then we like to add a headband or wrap.

30 Hairdos: Day 21"Low French w/Ribbon"

I saw this hairstyle on pintrest a few weeks ago and had to try it the next day.  We went to a family reunion that day and I got several comment about how cute Van's hair was.  So it went into the normal rotation (except that I need to buy more ribbon, right now she only has green and brown)  Its super easy, just do a low to the side French braid, then take a long ribbon and wrap it around the whole head like a headband and tie it around the end of the braid making a bow.

30 Hairdos: Day 20 "Fishtail Braid"

I've always wanted to learn to do a fishtail braid.  They've always kind of intimidated me.  But, I thought this was the perfect opportunity to learn.  So I went to youtube and searched "fishtail braid how to"  It looked pretty easy, so I went for it.  This is a really messy first attempt, but I'm not afraid to show that sometimes Savannah's hair looks like this.  Hahaha.  I'd attempt to tell you how to do it, but I'm sure it would do more harm than good, so if you want to learn look it up on youtube.
