Tricare strikes again.

Another day, another Tricare issue. Lincoln has pink eye. Well, that's what they said when I took him in on Friday. Then he had an allergic reaction to the eye ointment they gave him, so we got to go back today. I called at 7:05 a.m. to make the appt. since the call center opens at 7, and was told that they had no available appt.s today. Apparently every single appt was booked in the first 5 minutes that they were open. Joy. So, the guy asked if I could make it to the Clairmont Mesa clinic in 30 minutes. We were currently dropping Jesse off at work, both kids were in their pjs, and I had just thrown clothes on without brushing my teeth or hair, but I took the appt anyway. So we make a quick run through the McDonald's drive-thru, and hurried to the clinic. We got there 2 minutes before his appt. So we walked in, just to be told that the appt was booked for tomorrow, not today. Not only that, but since we are assigned to a different clinic we aren't allowed to book appts at other clinics more than an hour in adavance, so they would have to cancel our appt for tomorrow. Luckily the lady was super nice, and scheduled us an appt in the East County (Santee) clinic for 9 am. So, we rushed home, I ran inside and brushed my teeth and hair, and grabbed clean clothes for the kids and a few diapers for Lincoln (he hadn't been changed yet from his nighttime diaper), and we rushed to Santee.

So we get there, and the nurse checks us in. Then the dr comes in. He asks what the problem is, and I explain what is going on with his eye, then go on to explain that I think there is something else going on with him as well. His eye is goopy, but not really red. Nobody else has caught pink eye from him the 5 days he's had it. He hasn't been rubbing it or anything (except when it was swollen from the other cream) Also he hasn't slept more than 2 hours at a time since last Wed, he cries most of the day, and hasn't eaten more than a bite or 2 in the same timeframe. The dr. totally blew off what I was saying and gave me a lecture about how pink eye makes kids uncomfortable, blah, blah, blah. So I repeated myself about the not sleeping, crying, not eating, etc. He says, "Well, he's not dehydrated." I don't care if he is dehydrated. Clearly there is something wrong with my child, and I want him checked out, dang it! The dr, kept insisting that all that was wrong was that he has pink eye, and didn't even check for anything else. I'm so glad that he wasn't our regular dr.

So, now we are just hoping that the eye drops he gave us will be some miracle cure for whatever is wrong with him or we will be at the dr again. We've already been 7 times this month, and its only the 21. Is it May yet?

I'm so sorry about the doctor, I just learned that we dont' have use the tricare clinics here we can go to civilian, you may want to look into it. Do you have a pediatric dr at miramar? I like the ped doctors I"ve seen at the hospital, but i never see the same one. I miss civilian practices. Anyway my friend takes her kids to a civilian practice. Also we should get together. This may gloom is already bugging me. Would you like to come over sometime?
