30 Hair-do's: Day 2 "Braided Crown"

Savannah requested hair down today. I decided that I wanted to try this braided crown from "My Yellow Sandbox." I did make a few changes. Savannah has really flat hair, so I started by lifting the section that is above the braid and backcombing it a bit for volume. I'm really bad with bobby pins, so instead of just bobby pinning the braids in place I did a ponytail on the first braid and bobby pinned in in place then on the second braid I overlapped it a bit and tucked it through the first braid and pinned it. I think it looks better they way it is done on "My Yellow Sandbox," but I knew that if it was just bobby pinned in place it would not withstand recess on a 6-year-old. Also "My Yellow Sandbox," said to curl the rest of the hair with a 3-barrel iron and straighten the ends. I'm too lazy for that, so I just left it as is. Savannah has naturally wavy hair, that kind of looks messy, but she hates having it curled or straightened.
