30 Hair-do's: Day 3 "Criss Cross Braids"

You want to know a secret? I just learned how to French braid in July. Yes, July of this year, 2011. Before that I got pretty good at figuring out how to do different hair-dos without French braiding. This is one of those. I first started doing this do when Savannah was 3, so its an oldie. But its still one of my favorites. The best part about it is that it looks much harder than it is.

Start by dividing the hair into six sections and putting each in a ponytail. I like to do the ponytails as far to the oustside of her head as I can get them. Congratulations, you just completed the most difficult part of this do. Seriously!

Start with one of the front ponies, do a braid, and connect it to the middle pony on the opposite side. The only bad thing about this hair-do is that it takes a lot of elastics. I used 12 today. But I buy the tiny rubber bands that come with like 250 for about $3, so I don't mind. And I use nail clippers to cut them all out before bed, so she doesn't mind either. After you have done the first braid, do the opposite side crossing it over the first. Then do the same process with the middle section.

When you get to the bottom you can either leave the ends down or braid them. I like to do "doggy ear" braids at the bottom because if I leave any of Savannah's hair down it ends up a huge tangled mess at the end of the day. Corse, wavy hair + active 6-year-old= a lot of tears at the end of the day. Luckily this entire hair-do took about 10 minutes start to finish. Less time than I would have spent brushing out the tangles if we had left it down.

And my cute girl wanted a picture of her face. This was taken as she was getting out of the car at school.

LOVE this!! It looks awesome. I used to play with my sister's hair and do fun things...I'll watch to see if there's anything I did that you don't, lol. But I am guessing you know them all!

I do like this one. I'll have to try it. I also have french braid issues. I know HOW, I just don't do it very well, so I don't do it at all. I guess i ought to practice.
