We got home from Utah last night. We had a great time, and I didn't take as many pictures as I probably should have. But that will all come later. For now I just want to brag about how great they did on the drive. It took us 11 hours to get to Utah, and 13 to get home. Bad weather for almost the entire drive and one really long stop made the drive home take longer. Our portable DVD player got broken when we went to Escalante last year, so we don't have one anymore. So I packed each of the kids a backpack with their Leapsters, their Tag readers, some books, a doll for Savannah, and a couple of dinosaurs for Lincoln. I was pretty nervous that they were going to be bored, as that doesn't seem like much to keep them busy that long. Well, within ten minutes into the drive I realized that both Lincoln's Leapster and Savannah's Tag were out of batteries. I figured we would pick some up at a gas station, but every time we stopped we forgot because the kids were so good! On the way there Savannah was a little angel the entire time (except that she asked if we were there yet about every ten minutes) and Lincoln only whined for maybe twenty minutes. Other than that they were quiet the entire 11 hours!
On the way home it was even worse. We had left Savannah's Leapster in Caytie's car, and Lincoln had jammed a CD in the CD player, so we only had music when we were driving through a city big enough to get radio reception without an antennae. They were perfect little angels again! Seriously, between the two of them they had one Tag reader, about ten books, a doll, 2 dinosaurs, and a few Bakugans and they managed to stay entertained for 13 hours!
