Last night when I was trying to get my kids to go to sleep, Lincoln came out of his room and said, "scared." That may not seem like a big deal, but I was so excited! It was the first time that Lincoln had used words to express an emotion. He didn't cry, he didn't scream or throw himself on the ground, or hit. He told me how he felt!
It got me thinking about how far he has come. When my sister was here this past weekend, they kept commenting on how much his speech has improved since we moved. Its crazy! Six months ago he only said 43 words, and rarely put together 2 word sentences. Now its no uncommon to hear him say things like, "Need help, foot stuck." or "Savannah come here." He answers questions almost every time I ask, where 6 months ago he had never answered a question in his life, not even with yes or no. He is using names, not just mom and dad, but he actually knows the names of some kids at playgroup, and characters on TV. He sings songs! I thought he would never sing. He used to hate being around other people, but now he actually asks to play with his friends and go to nursery. 6 months ago I was told that he was a year behind in language, I would be willing to bet that if I had him evaluated now, he would be right on. Its amazing to me how far he has come.
