First off, this was the results of yesterday's knot braid. I kind of wanted to just leave it and curl a few extra pieces, but I knew it would be a big ratty mess by first recess. So we decided to do what I call the umbrella.

Start by pulling the hair into a sleek mid-height ponytail. This is actually the first time in this challenge that I have put any kind of hair product in Savannah's hair. I don't like hairspray or gel, so I try to avoid them, but her hair needed some help slicking back so we used a little gel. Once you get it into the pony we are going to do a variation of the tuck under that I used a few days ago. I don't like tools either, so I use my finger as shown.

Then tuck the hair through your finger hole, but don't pull it all the way through. This forms the top of your umbrella, with the rest hanging down like a straight handle. Normally I would curl the bottom part, but her hair was curly enough from yesterday that we just called it good.

Tie a ribbon either just above the ponytail (around the umbrella part) or just below the ponytail (around the top of the "handle") and you have a super fast, fancy do. I think this was under 2 minutes total.

Please ignore the messy bathroom and the "just rolled out of bed" me. I liked this picture because you can see both the front and the back of her hair, so I'm posting it.
