30 hairdos: Day 11 "Star"

I'm officially a week behind. I've been doing the dos and taking pictures every day, but haven't had the time to post. Last week Savannah participated in the "Future Lancelles" dance clinic. They preformed at the varsity game on Friday night with a patriotic theme. I was really excited as this was the perfect opportunity to do my favorite 4th of July hairdo. This is definitely a hairdo that doesn't look nearly as good in pictures as it does in real life. And I was really rushed getting it done, so it doesn't look as cute as it normally does.

We are making a star, so start by pulling the hair into 5 ponytails, where you want the inside angles of the star to be. Mine should be closer together than they are in this picture.

Pick a ponytail to start with and divide the hair in half. Take one half and braid it a few inches. Then go to the next ponytail and do the same thing. Connect the braids and bobbypin in down to make a point for your star.

If you are working with short hair you can leave the ends out and curl them. Since Savannah's hair is long, I needed to do something to get the ends out of the way. I twisted them into a twisty bun and used a few bobbypins to secure it.

Repeat the same steps with each of the 5 points. I forgot to take a picture at this point. If you want to be extra fancy you can add ribbon. Tuck the edge of the ribbon under the elastic of one of the points, then wrap the ribbon around the braids all the way around the star. I also added some blue by tying simple knots around each point bun.
