30 Hairdos: Day 18 "Femme Faux Hawk"

Saturday was Savannah's birthay and in all the excitement I somehow didn't get a decent picture of her hair. I'd been saving messy buns, which is kind of her "signature do" for her birthday. I guess I'll have to do it again another day. And then Sunday and Monday she was sick and didn't get her hair done. I'm now 3 days behind. Oops!

This is the my girly version of a faux hawk. Someday I hope to get good enough at doing my own hair to do this on myself. I didnt' think to take any in process pictures. I don't really know if those are helpful or not. Anyhow, start by doing 2 small French braids on each side, going sideways. Then take the top of the hair and pick up a small section in the front. Spray some hairspray or volume enhancing product (I use backcomb in a bottle by "Big Sexy Hair.") and backcomb to add some volume. Pick up another section behind the first and do the same thing. Do this 3 or 4 times until you have a section of hair standing up on the top of the head. Smooth down the top and secure it back with bobby pins. Then pull the rest into a high pony and do a messy bun with it. Since Savanah's hair is pretty long I just pull the hair halfway through the ponytail, then add another ponytail, pulling it halfway through again. This gives you 2 "loops" with some ends sticking out, and I just mess with it until it looks messyish. That probably makes no sense, but here are the pictures.
