Lincoln's Second First Day

Tuesdays and Thursdays Lincoln gets to go to the Little Red School House, and today was his first day there. This was a pretty sentimental occasion for me. The Little Red Schoolhouse is owned and operated by my grandma. One of the hardest parts of living outside of Utah for me, was that I didn't think that my kids would get to go there. I went to preschool there. Most of my siblings went to preschool there. Most of my cousins went to preschool there. Almost all of my neices and nephews have gone to preschool there. I never thought my kids would get to go. When we moved to Utah while Jesse was in Iraq in 2008, Savannah got to go to The Little Red Schoolhouse for half the year, and now Lincoln is going too!

He is going with my nephew, Tanner. I was a little bit hesitant to enroll them in the same class because they can be a bit... rambunctious when they are together. But the lure of carpooling got me, and I signed Linc up for Tanners class. This morning Lincoln asked me about every 10 minutes if it was time to go to school yet. Noon couldn't have come fast enough. When it was finally time to get ready Lincoln surprised me with his choice of outfit. He picked it out all on his own and insisted that this outfit was going to make him the coolest kid at school. He also asked me to brush his hair, which is something he usually fights. I didn't get a whole lot of pictures today because we were running late (what a surprise, right?) But here are a few of him with Tanner.

When I got to pickup Lincoln was crying. He wanted to go home with Tanner. I asked how his day was and he said, "Not Good." Apparently he didn't get to sit by Tanner. That was all I could get out of him. (I do think he enjoyed school, he was just mad that I picked him up) Tanner is a lot more verbal than Lincoln. He told his mom and they were both naughty at school and they started the day sitting by each other but the teacher had to separate them. Then they sat by each other at circle time and the teacher had to separate them again, and that Lincoln was naughty at snack time too.

Here's to hoping the second day goes better and that their teachers survive the year!
